Honors Chemistry Preview Classes

Give your son or daughter a jump start in Honors Chemistry in High School. Sign them up for a preview Chemistry Class. Classes are very small (3-5) in order to give students individualized attention and also allow for interaction with other students. We will work our way through the first several chapters of the textbook, with an emphasis on concepts and really understanding chemistry. We use the same book as that is used by Saratoga and Cupertino High Schools for Honors Chemistry. We can easily get books for other high schools in the area and adapt this class to your student. Be aware that this is a very fast paced, intense class. We have worked with many straight-A HS students who were surprised by B's and C's in this class.

The preview class will start on July 15th. We will meet on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons for two 1.5 hour sessions each week in Cupertino (near Stevens Creek and DeAnza). We will discuss concepts, do chemistry problems, and complete hands-on laboratory experiments. The students will be given assignments to complete in between class periods to solidify what they have learned. Students are expected to spend 1-2 hours per non-class day on assignments. The cost of the class is $300 for four weeks. A $50 deposit is required to hold a place in the class. The instructor is also available to tutor students during the school year.
